Victory
high school in Tulsa OK chose
GIANT to
produce their annual year end DVD. GIANT prides itself in creating work
that is above and beyond what the client imagines and this project was
no different.
The
Challenge
Create a DVD that recounts the year's highlights in a fun, exciting,
and memorable way. In the past, these DVDs have been simple collections
of random video mostly shot by parents, with basic menus and minimal
graphics. It must include a 5 minute montage video, and some of their
full routines.
The
Solution
We wanted to create something completely different than what had been
produced for them in the past. Before, these DVDs were simple edits of
random shots taken by the parents and placed on DVD. Our solution was
to create the DVD as if it were a cork board, holding Polaroid
snapshots and various items from the year. The animated menus for the
DVD follow that theme as the user navigates the information.
Video
Production and Editing
Victory had about 2 hours of video shot by parents. This was good
video, but not as crisp as GIANT needed. We gathered up our film crew
and shot additional footage of their practices and parties which would
be edited along with the footage provided by Victory to produce the 5
minute montage. After all the video was shot, GIANT created a 5 minute
mix of music which would be used to set the feel and tempo of the
montage video. Our goal was to mix something that would be entertaining
and appropriate for the high school students while keeping with the
moral standards of the school. After the mix was complete, the video
was edited to the music.
